Attleborough Town Archive is under new management.  Mrs Barbara Waters, Attleborough’s long standing voluntary archivist is stepping down from the post and with the full and generous support of Attleborough Town Council, the Town Archive will be moving to the guardianship of Attleborough Heritage Group (AHG).  The Group will, of course, continue to manage their own very considerable archive alongside that of Attleborough Town. Since the closure of Attleborough Town Twinning Association, AHG has also taken charge of the Twinning Association’s memorabilia and documents relating to the Town’s long relationship with the town of Nueil-Les-Aubiers in the Deux-Sevres Department of Western France.  AHG is also home to the dedicated Attleborough Station Adopters who maintain the flower beds and tubs on both platforms at the Station.

Cliff Amos, the Chair of AHG, said “this is an important further step for the Heritage Group especially as the Town expands and develops while maintaining its long and unique history.”

AHG is a community enterprise member’s organisation and, with our extensive workload, we are always delighted to welcome new members and volunteers.  Our website can be found at www.attleborougheritage.org.uk where you can find full details about the Group, full contact details and how to join us.

COVID 19 restrictions have temporarily closed our residence in the Ellingham Suite at the Attleborough Community & Enterprise Centre.  We hope that when restrictions are lifted it may be possible to meet up again on Wednesday and Friday mornings for our customary coffee and cake gatherings.  Later in the year we will operate an appointments system in the Town Archive Centre when family and other history research will be possible.
