Dear Local Stakeholder,

A11/A47 Thickthorn interchange, Cringleford: major project survey works

I write to inform you that Kier will be completing numerous survey works at the above location on behalf of Highways England. These surveys will allow us to gain valuable information on the existing ground and network condition, helping Highways England design and programme future works necessary for improving the strategic road network.

We have recently been conducting some low level survey works and established our small site compound on private land, just off Cantley Lane, Cringleford. Now that our initial surveys are complete, we will be stepping up our works and surveying a wider area. These works are currently programmed to finish in late August. A small number of surveys will continue on private land during daytime hours. Please note works will not occur during weekends or public holidays.

The majority of works will occur near or on the road surface at various locations near Thickthorn interchange, and will require overnight roadworks, including traffic management. Working hours are 8pm to 6am, weeknights only, weather permitting. Traffic management measures will include slip road and single lane closures, use of temporary traffic lights and full road closures.

Future works and notifications

Throughout our programme of works, we will endeavour to provide advanced notice in writing to adjacent properties impacted by full road closures or other significant construction activity, as well as emails and updates with relevant local stakeholders. If you know of any stakeholders who you feel need to be added to this stakeholder list, please let me know.

The areas where surveys will be taken is shown below. A letter detailing the first stage of road closures starting Friday 20 April is attached.

We have carefully planned these works to take place during weekday off peak hours, when traffic flows are at their lightest. We apologise for the local inconvenience these works may cause and thank you for your patience whilst we carry out strategic maintenance to the road network. We would be grateful if you would share information locally about the works.
